Naval Station Ingleside Base Reversion to the Port

In accordance with the “Homeport” agreements which attracted the Navy to Ingleside approximately 20 years ago, 912 acres of Navy property will revert back to the Port of Corpus Christi when the Navy vacates the base. According to the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) legislation of year 2005, this reversion will take place by September 2010.

As depicted in the chart below, the Naval Base is made up of 483 upland acres, plus 93 acres submerged, plus 336 acres of dredge placement property which adds up to 912 acres total in the reversion.

Reversion to the Port

The Port has engaged a master planner to help define the new best use for these properties and to find an investor or investors who would commit the resources to redevelopment that would recapture the jobs lost due to BRAC.

The following photo chart illustrates the main base and lists major functions and facilities.
