New
Software System at Port of Corpus Christi Cold Storage
Enhances Inventory Reporting and Adds Interactive Electronic Tools
By
mid-December, the Corpus Christi Cold Storage will install a fully
integrated software system that features enhanced inventory control,
automated billing, electronic data interchange (EDI), and customer
Web access. " This new software system gives our customers
exactly what they say they want," said Chuck Margraf, Port
of Corpus Christi Cold Storage Operations Manager.
The new LogiMax system from ICS of Jacksonville, FL is a multi-customer
logistics management software that provides complete support for
traditional cold storage warehouse operations including: receipts
and delivery, inventory management, billing, reporting& analysis,
pallet tracking and exchange, automated period ends, bill of lading,
flexibility rate & tariff, multi-customer and multi-warehouse
operations, Internet- base customer inquiries, complete RF ( radio
frequency for barcode scanning) support, integrated barcode labeling
readers, security controls and on-line support.
Most
important, customers wanted a system with complete electronic
capabilities to report and access inventory. Once in place, current
and future customers will be able via EDI, XML, e-mail, and Internet
to interface with the Port of Corpus Christi Cold Storage and
company inventory. Also, with EDI, vessels will be able to get
the necessary information to Federal agencies prior to arrival;
therefore, streamlining operations.
" This new system is extremely beneficial to high volume
customers because it is state of the art. Via EDI, it allows customers
to directly interface with cargo for order entry, bar coding/
scanning, and get inventory updates through Web access,"
added Margraf. "This also helps our current customers through
improved inventory reporting systems and the ability to expand
into bar coding and scanning for fully automated tracking of their
cargoes."
"This unique system makes shipping through the Corpus Christi
Cold Storage even more advantageous when you consider the technology
resources that will be available to our customers. Essentially,
the software helps our customers be even more efficient so they
can enhance their business," added Ed Altemus, Port of Corpus
Christi Trade Development Director.
